About the role#
As a Robotics Software Engineering Intern, you will build software that interfaces with robotic hardware, control systems, and cloud services. You will join our engineering team to work on real projects, including frontend applications, on-robot services, and low-level hardware communication. This is not an isolated project role. We expect interns to write production code, join technical discussions, and deliver software that impacts our users. You will receive mentorship from experienced engineers and take ownership of specific features throughout your internship.
What you'll do#
- Develop production software for robotic control and full-stack systems.
- Implement and test control algorithms, sensor integration, and hardware communication protocols.
- Optimize software for embedded and real-time constraints to ensure performance.
- Build product features, internal tools, and dashboards for our engineering and operations teams.
- Implement APIs and services using modern engineering practices.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into working software.
- Debug production issues and write maintainable, tested code.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong programming fundamentals in one or more languages such as C++, Go, Python, Java, or Rust.
- Understanding of software engineering principles, including object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
- Experience building software through coursework, internships, research, personal projects, or open-source contributions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn unfamiliar technologies.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site in Los Angeles, California, or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- We work on-site five days a week.
- Compensation ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
