About the role#
This is a 16-month, full-time, paid co-op term starting in May 2027. You will work alongside senior mechanical engineers to solve technical problems, generate detailed drawings, and conduct analyses. You will be based on-site in Waterdown, Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Provide mechanical design, analysis, and testing support for new and existing products.
- Create drawings and bills of materials.
- Complete assignments of moderate scope and complexity.
- Use standard engineering methods and defined best practices to solve problems.
- Assist senior staff with technical tasks and contribute to departmental best practices.
- Participate in design reviews as a presenter or reviewer.
- Support the verification and validation of new product designs.
- Implement changes to documentation, technical drawings, parts, and assemblies.
- Design cabling wire harnesses, including physical routing and verification in production.
- Keep up to date with mechanical industry trends and new technologies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
- Current enrollment and good standing with a co-op program at an accredited university.
- Ability to commit to a 16-month term starting May 2027.
- Ability to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program clearance.
- Experience with a solid modeling CAD package.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.
- Design skills demonstrated through coursework or previous experience.
- Strong mathematical and analysis skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong communication skills and a self-starting attitude.
