About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy department by providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate medication dispensing. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to assist customers, manage inventory, and maintain a safe, clean environment. This role focuses on delivering high-quality care while gaining practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill and refill requests.
- Dispense correct medications and bag them for customer delivery.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to facilitate prescription processing.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including checking incoming orders and stocking shelves.
- Maintain department cleanliness and monitor quality assurance standards.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or illegal activities to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Strong conflict management skills, with the ability to remain nonconfrontational.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Capability to provide support to diverse populations, including minors and older adults.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
