About the role#
Retail Pharmacy Interns gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working toward their pharmacy degree. You will assist with daily operations, support patient care, and work closely with registered pharmacists to ensure accurate medication dispensing and inventory management.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt and friendly customer service.
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report any medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Manage inventory by ordering, stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering data.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Help train pharmacy employees.
- Keep the pharmacy and dispensing area clean.
- Maintain the confidentiality of private medical information and prescription pricing in accordance with HIPAA.
- Work as a team to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies.
- Maintain a professional appearance, follow store guidelines, and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
- Assist in other areas of the store and complete special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Valid registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform accurate arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.
