About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. You will provide exceptional service to ensure customers feel valued and supported. This role involves direct interaction with patients, prescribers, and insurance providers to facilitate accurate medication dispensing and care.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming experience for customers by answering questions about products throughout the store.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the computer system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill and refill requests.
- Dispense correct medications and bag them for accurate delivery to customers.
- Provide drug counseling and assist with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Facilitate immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Monitor quality assurance standards and maintain department cleanliness.
- Process incoming orders, stock products, and return unused bottles to inventory.
- Report safety risks, illegal activity, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high volume environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
- Capacity to provide support to minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
