About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will work directly with our pharmacy team to support patient care and store operations. This role focuses on providing excellent service to customers while maintaining a clean and safe pharmacy environment. You will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense the correct medication and bag prescriptions for delivery to customers.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders and stocking shelves.
- Support customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- The ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- A commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Capability to manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner.
