About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in providing high-quality care to our customers. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of medications while helping maintain a clean and organized department. This role focuses on building patient trust and ensuring operational excellence in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Create an outstanding customer experience by answering questions and providing helpful recommendations for over the counter medications.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense correct medications, bag prescriptions, and deliver them to customers.
- Accept and interpret both oral and written prescriptions.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with third-party insurance processing.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-volume environment while managing stress.
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling sensitive customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Capability to provide support to diverse groups, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
