About the role#
Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is hiring a Structural Engineer Intern for our Lenexa, Kansas office for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, paid internship where you will support our design team by maintaining company standards and contributing to project documentation.
What you'll do#
- Learn departmental design standards, engineering codes, and internal policies.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations and design sketches for drafting.
- Calculate cost and quantity estimates based on project data.
- Assist with checking calculations, drawings, and vendor documents.
- Visit construction sites to monitor progress and verify conformance to engineering plans.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
- Completed coursework in Fundamentals of Structural Analysis (including computer application), Strength of Materials (with statics and dynamics), and either Fundamentals of Steel Design or Concrete Design.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software and CADD tools.
- Ability to work on-site in Lenexa, Kansas.
