About the role#
Kiewit operates each project like a small business. As a Finance Analyst Intern, you will support the project team with accounting and financial functions. You will gain experience in cost control, payroll, accounts payable, and compliance while working alongside the Operations team. This role requires you to be mobile, as you must be willing to relocate for the duration of the internship.
What you'll do#
- Support project accounting and finance functions, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
- Assist with the month-end close-out process and prepare financial reporting packages for project management.
- Manage payroll and HR process workflows, including hiring and termination procedures.
- Maintain internal controls for purchasing and troubleshoot accounts payable or vendor issues.
- Handle intercompany and client billing workflows to support cash management.
- Review costs, quantity claiming, and budget structures to ensure accurate reporting.
- Identify and adjust forecast and budget issues within cost reports.
- Implement EEO and labor laws at the project level while following the Corporate Compliance Program.
- Adapt to project needs and assist in other areas as required.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Business Administration.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with preference for experience in Pivot Tables and V-Lookups.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to spot discrepancies.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to access all parts of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
