About the role#
This Finance Analyst Internship provides hands-on experience in the business management of construction projects. You will support a project team by handling accounting and finance functions, including cost control, payroll, and accounts payable. Each project at Kiewit operates like a small business, and you will learn to manage the financial components of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
What you'll do#
- Support the month-end close process and help prepare financial reporting packages for project management.
- Manage payroll and HR workflows, including hiring, transfers, and terminations.
- Oversee purchasing workflows, invoice processing, and accounts payable.
- Troubleshoot payment or vendor issues as they arise.
- Review costs, budget structures, and exception reports to ensure accuracy.
- Identify and adjust forecast and budget issues.
- Handle intercompany and client billing processes.
- Ensure project compliance with EEO and labor laws.
- Work closely with the Operations team to support project needs.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Business Administration.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with Pivot Tables and V-Look Ups is preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to spot discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and a positive attitude.
- Ability to freely access all parts of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Ability to relocate anywhere in the country as business needs require.
