    About the role#

    This internship provides practical experience in public media, journalism, and communications. You will work with KET professionals on public affairs programs like Comment on Kentucky, Kentucky Tonight, Kentucky Edition, and News Quiz. This is a paid position that includes an hourly wage and the opportunity to earn two stipends based on performance markers.

    What you'll do#

    • Operate cameras in the field and in the studio.
    • Support audio technicians during production.
    • Assist with video editing and graphic design tasks.
    • Run the teleprompter and help with on-air promotion production.
    • Log and transcribe video and interviews.
    • Research content and legislation.
    • Schedule and host guests appearing on programs.
    • Provide production support in Frankfort and Lexington.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a degree program related to Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or Media Studies.
    • Completion of at least 24 academic credit hours.
    • Good academic standing.
    • Strong computer, writing, and communication skills.
    • Ability to commit to at least 120 hours during the semester.
    • Flexibility to work evening hours.
    • Ability to travel for work, including occasional overnight stays.
    • Capacity to stand, walk, or sit for long periods and lift objects up to 50 lbs.

    • The role is based in Lexington, Kentucky.
    • This is an on-site, full-time internship for the Winter 2027 term.
