About the role#
Kepler Communications is seeking an FPGA Digital Design Engineering Intern to contribute to the development of next-generation satellites and ground stations. You will work directly with RTL code, focusing on the design and maintenance of FPGA systems that power our space-based communication infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and improve the existing FPGA code base, including code for software-defined radios and networks.
- Design custom IP blocks for new features in satellites and ground stations.
- Integrate support for new sensors and communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and UART.
- Implement and work with high-speed FPGA interfaces including JESD204b, 10G Ethernet, and Aurora.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years in an Electrical or Computer Engineering degree program or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL, with an expectation to work primarily in SystemVerilog.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution with the intent to return to studies following the internship.
- Availability for a full-time internship lasting 4 to 16 months, beginning in January 2027.
- Experience with DSP algorithms, C++, embedded programming, or scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Tcl is considered an asset.
- Practical experience gained through personal projects or university design teams is valued.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based in Toronto, Ontario.
- The role requires working from the Toronto office at least 2 to 3 days per week.
- Term: Winter 2027.
