About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in public accounting, offering exposure to real client work and the same tools used by full-time staff. Interns participate in formal in-person training, work with a performance coach and buddy, and receive ongoing feedback to support professional growth. The role requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, with schedules coordinated to accommodate academic commitments.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and assist with individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041, and gift tax returns.
- Work on grouped returns to build confidence across similar client engagements.
- Input and reconcile K-1s, trial balances, fixed assets, and adjusting journal entries.
- Assist with book-to-tax reconciliations, diagnostics, and clearing review points.
- Conduct basic tax research and contribute to internal or external tax blog content on current topics.
- Utilize tax software such as CCH Axcess, SurePrep, and Fixed Assets.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one semester of an intermediate-level accounting class.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or accounting systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer skills.
- A detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and collaborative mindset.
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and sitting for the CPA exam.

- Compensation: Paid position with an anticipated hiring range of $30.00 to $32.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
