About the role#
As a Student Nurse Aide in the M/S Ortho Neuro department, you will provide care for patients and their families under the direction of a registered nurse. You will support the nursing staff by assisting with daily tasks and ensuring patient needs are met while maintaining a safe and clean environment. This role is designed for nursing students to gain practical experience while completing their education.
What you'll do#
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes and greet patients and families professionally.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, oral care, and ambulation.
- Help with patient meals, snacks, and water.
- Collect and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake and output data.
- Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Report changes in patient condition or family concerns to licensed staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all safety and infection control policies.
- Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with emergency care, including CPR and Code Blue responses.
- Maintain your college student skills competency checklist and perform only validated duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited RN program with at least one semester successfully completed.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your nursing school or current employment at Kaweah Health while enrolled in a Kaweah Health/Unitek nursing program.
- BLS certification.
- Ability to obtain Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire.
- Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to submit updated transcripts to HR each term.

- The role is part-time and on-site.
- You will work 12-hour day shifts.
