This is a part-time software engineering student position based at the John Deere World Headquarters in Moline, Illinois. This program is designed for students to work year-round alongside their academic schedule, with the expectation of balancing professional responsibilities with full-time university enrollment.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and operationalize systems utilizing large language models (LLMs) and multimodal models.
- Build and integrate features powered by LLMs, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent frameworks, tool use, and conversational interfaces.
- Evaluate and implement both open-source and commercial foundation models for text, code, and images.
- Develop embedding pipelines, vector search, and hybrid search strategies.
- Commute to the Moline work location on all scheduled workdays.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university.
- Expected graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
- Availability to work 16-20 hours per week during the academic year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer semester.
