About the role#
The Virtual Learning Academy at Jefferson County Educational Service Center seeks an intern to support our marketing and communications efforts. You will gain hands-on experience by creating content, supporting virtual events, and learning how strategic communication impacts students, families, and school districts. This role offers the chance to build a portfolio and work directly with our leadership team.
What you'll do#
- Create content for email newsletters and social media platforms.
- Design marketing materials and graphics using tools like Canva.
- Assist with content planning and social media scheduling.
- Support virtual events, webinars, and outreach initiatives.
- Research current marketing trends to recommend new strategies.
- Capture and edit photos or short-form videos.
- Help maintain brand consistency across all materials.
- Collaborate on special projects and brainstorm promotional campaigns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program related to Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or Media Studies.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines.
- A creative, organized, and dependable approach to tasks.
- Familiarity with platforms like Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, or Meta Business Suite is a plus.

- Location: Steubenville, Ohio (Hybrid work model).
- Schedule: 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $15 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
