Intern (Buildings and Grounds)

About the role#

The Jefferson County Educational Service Center Virtual Learning Academy is seeking an intern for the Buildings and Grounds department. This position supports the general maintenance, care, and cleanliness of local facilities to ensure a professional environment for staff and visitors. This is a paid, part-time summer 2026 internship based in Steubenville, Ohio.

What you'll do#

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, heating, and air conditioning tasks.
• Manage grounds keeping duties such as mowing, trimming, and general exterior upkeep.
• Execute custodial responsibilities, including cleaning restrooms, sweeping, and trash removal.
• Assist the Director of Technology with the support and maintenance of information and communication systems.
• Support the maintenance and safety of all facilities and grounds.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license; a commercial driver’s license is required.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Prior experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
