About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the safety and occupational health team at our Russellville facility. You will work to identify safety gaps and improve process efficiency. This role is designed to help you explore career paths within the food supply chain while contributing to our safety programs.
What you'll do#
- Support the safety and occupational health team with daily operations.
- Assist in the improvement of accident and illness prevention programs.
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments throughout the plant.
- Prepare and submit safety reports for management review.
- Investigate accidents and track the progress of corrective actions.
- Participate in safety training sessions and promote awareness among team members.
- Perform regular plant safety inspections.
- Assist in managing programs such as exposure control, hazard communication, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation.
- Help set standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding.
- Support the development of ergonomics programs.
- Review new or modified equipment to ensure safety compliance.
- Assist with Workers Compensation and safety committees.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year university or pursuit of a bachelor degree in a field such as Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Public Health, or Health Administration.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- The physical ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
