About the role#
The 2026 Fall Safety Internship provides an opportunity to support the safety and occupational health team in a food manufacturing environment. This role focuses on identifying safety gaps, improving process efficiency, and contributing to accident and illness prevention programs. Interns receive mentorship and exposure to various business areas while working to maintain a secure environment for team members.
What you'll do#
- Support the safety and occupational health team with daily operations.
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments and perform regular plant safety inspections.
- Assist in managing safety programs, including exposure control, hazard communication, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation.
- Investigate accidents and track corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to management.
- Help with Workers Compensation and safety committees.
- Participate in safety training sessions and promote safety awareness.
- Support ergonomics program development and assist in setting standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding.
- Review and approve new or modified equipment for safety compliance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a four-year university or pursuit of a bachelor degree, preferably in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Public Health, or Health Administration.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
