About the role#
ITASCA Consulting is hiring a Geomechanics intern for the summer 2027 term. This full-time, on-site position is based in our Minneapolis office. You will work alongside engineers and consultants to support ongoing projects through data analysis, numerical modeling, and technical reporting.
What you'll do#
- Organize, review, and interpret geologic and geotechnical data.
- Apply machine-learning methods to project workflows.
- Prepare inputs for numerical models and conduct sensitivity studies.
- Compare model results against field observations.
- Document assumptions and findings.
- Create figures, tables, technical summaries, and reports.
- Collaborate with team members on project deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for geological, geotechnical, civil, or mining engineering (or a related field).
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work on-site in Minneapolis for the full duration of the internship.
- Willingness to travel for up to two weeks and adjust work hours when project needs arise.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.

- Compensation: $22 to $28 per hour.
