About the role#
SEH is hiring a Traffic Intern to join our transportation team in St. Paul. This is a part-time, paid position that offers experience in civil engineering through hands-on project work. You will support our staff with multimodal traffic engineering tasks, data collection, and design projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering staff with multimodal traffic tasks, analysis, and study reports.
- Conduct safety analysis for transportation and highway planning projects.
- Set up and retrieve traffic counters and video cameras for data collection.
- Perform technical traffic operations analysis using modeling software.
- Help create design plans using CAD software for traffic signals, signing, and striping.
- Use GIS tools to generate data summaries and graphics.
- Attend community engagement events like open houses.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- You can travel as needed for field reviews, site inspections, and client meetings.
- You are able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of equipment.
- We prefer candidates who can work at least 8 hours per week during the school year.
