About the role#
We are looking for a Wastewater Intern to join our Water/Wastewater team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on municipal wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment projects. This role involves a mix of office work and field assignments.
What you'll do#
- Support field staff with construction observation of lift stations, force mains, gravity sewers, and wastewater treatment facility improvements.
- Assist project managers and engineers with project development, planning, design, and construction administration.
- Draft project information using AutoCAD and related software for utility infrastructure and treatment facilities.
- Maintain communication with staff, contractors, utility operators, and clients.
- Gain hands-on experience with sanitary sewer rehabilitation, pump stations, and regulatory compliance projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Reliable transportation to travel to the office and nearby project sites.
- Ability to travel for team meetings, site visits, and construction inspections.
- Previous experience in construction inspection or utility infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of wastewater collection systems, lift stations, or treatment facilities is preferred.
- Ability to read engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D is preferred.

- This is a paid, part-time internship.
- Work modality is hybrid.
- Locations: St. Paul, MN; Minnetonka, MN; or Mason City, IA.
