About the role#
ITASCA Consulting is hiring a geology intern for our Minneapolis office during the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, temporary position focused on consulting projects. You will support our team with geologic data compilation, interpretation, visualization, and field investigations. The role may involve up to two weeks of out-of-town fieldwork.
What you'll do#
- Compile, organize, and interpret geologic and geotechnical information from maps, reports, drillhole logs, core photographs, laboratory results, and field observations.
- Assist with geologic mapping, core logging, data quality review, and the preparation of geologic cross sections.
- Develop conceptual or three-dimensional geologic models.
- Document your observations and interpretations.
- Prepare maps, figures, tables, technical summaries, reports, and presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in geology, geological sciences, earth science, geoscience, engineering geology, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work on-site in Minneapolis.
- Willingness to travel and adjust your schedule periodically to meet project needs.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and data visualization.
- Coursework or experience in field geology, structural geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, geologic mapping, core logging, geographic information systems, or 3D geologic modeling.

- Compensation: $22 to $28 per hour.
