About the role#
The Global Access, Value and Economics (GAVE) organization is looking for an AI/ML Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Global Access and Evidence Management Center of Excellence to build tools that optimize how we manage and synthesize clinical evidence. This role offers hands-on experience in software development, data management, and systems design within the medical equipment manufacturing field.
What you'll do#
- Design an end-to-end data pipeline to improve evidence management and generation.
- Build and automate strategies for searching and deduplicating research publications.
- Integrate large language model (LLM) workflows into existing systems.
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and refine technical solutions.
- Present your findings and interpretations to teams across the organization.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program for Computer Science, Data Science, or Computer Engineering, with plans to return to school after the internship.
- Ability to work full-time for 10 to 12 weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Proficiency in Python and a strong understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Solid grasp of machine learning algorithms and systems design principles.
- Experience with LLM APIs, Agentic AI workflows, and building ETL or data ingestion pipelines for Snowflake.
- Familiarity with NLP techniques, scikit-learn, R, and statistical methods like systematic literature reviews.
- Strong communication skills and a self-driven approach to problem-solving.

- This internship is based in Sunnyvale, California.
- The position is remote/hybrid, with a requirement for at least 3 on-site meetings during the term.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
