About the role#
This is a full-time co-op position for a student to gain experience in financial accounting. You will work on-site in Hove, Ontario, supporting our accounting and property management teams with daily financial operations and reporting.
What you'll do#
- Process monthly rental payments and maintain tenant ledgers.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and manage security deposit accounts.
- Create and upload month-end accrual journal entries into MRI.
- Generate and distribute monthly financial reports.
- Calculate year-end CAM and tax recovery adjustments based on tenant leases.
- Reconcile property tax payments against payment schedules.
- Review lease setups and manage ACH, EFT, and wire payment requests.
- Assist with property analysis, including NOI and variance reporting.
- Support the preparation of financial statement working files and year-end audit queries.
- Help the property management team with annual budgets and reforecasts.
- Maintain various trackers and assist with ad-hoc projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Level 3 or 4 post-secondary student in accounting.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft suite.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with lease interpretation, CAM, and tax recovery analysis is a key asset.
- Familiarity with MRI software is an asset.
- Progress toward a CPA designation is an asset.
