About the role#
Micro-LAM, Inc. is seeking an Innovations Engineer Intern to join its team in Portage, Michigan. This role focuses on the design, prototyping, and testing of key components related to optics manufacturing. The position is available on a rolling basis and offers the opportunity to contribute to product development in a hands-on engineering environment.
What you'll do#
- Complete product development tasks, including writing or verifying specifications, maintaining documentation, and validating equipment.
- Collaborate with the team to invent and create concepts for new products, processes, and test methods.
- Design, procure, and fabricate simple tooling and fixtures.
- Design parts using SolidWorks and perform engineering tests and experiments.
- Prototype and test components for current and future products.
- Prepare standard reports to communicate technical results.
- Identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet short deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive interest in participating in innovative ideas.
- Experience in machining, metal working, or quality control is considered an asset.
