About the role#
This engineering internship offers hands-on experience in technical communication, CAD modeling, and prototype development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Engineering, and Marketing to support product development and technical documentation. At the conclusion of the term, you will present your project outcomes to the Senior Leadership Team.
What you'll do#
- Support Engineering and Sales by creating sizing and application guides, simulation tools, and visual materials.
- Design and build a mechanical demonstration structure to compare valve performance.
- Develop and specify a flow loop for internal valve testing.
- Create CAD models and engineering drawings for prototype components.
- Select appropriate materials and components for mechanical builds.
- Assemble and test prototypes, document performance results, and participate in design reviews.
- Assist in root cause analysis and validation testing.
- Lead the collection of physical data, such as product weight.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in good standing at a Maryland higher education institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
- Sophomore standing or higher by the start of the internship.
- Pursuing a major or minor in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
- Experience with Solidworks is preferred.
