Engineering Intern

About the role#

This internship offers hands-on experience in technical communication, CAD modeling, and mechanical design. You will work across Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams to develop internal tools, sales literature, and prototype components. The role concludes with a presentation of your project outcomes to the Senior Leadership Team.

What you'll do#

• Support Engineering and Sales by creating sizing and application guides, simulation tools, and visual materials.
• Design and build a mechanical demonstration structure for valve performance comparison.
• Develop and specify a flow loop for internal valve testing.
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings for prototype components.
• Select appropriate materials and components for mechanical builds.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure design manufacturability and safety.
• Assemble and test prototypes, document performance results, and participate in design reviews.
• Assist in root cause analysis and validation testing.
• Collect physical data, including product weight, and support trade show and customer engagement efforts.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Maryland higher education institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
• Sophomore standing or higher by the start of the internship.
• Major or minor in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
• Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
