About the role#
This internship supports a mapping initiative across multiple vineyards. You will combine field-based GNSS data collection with GIS processing to create accurate geospatial products for internal use. You will work across various estate vineyards in the Okanagan, Kootenay, and Similkameen Valleys. This role involves collaboration with GIS specialists, viticulture staff, and vineyard development professionals.
What you'll do#
- Collect vineyard block boundaries and infrastructure features using GNSS equipment.
- Conduct ground-truthing to verify and improve existing spatial datasets.
- Perform flag staking on properties.
- Maintain accurate field notes and metadata during all surveys.
- Support vineyard planting initiatives.
- Validate, clean, and perform QA/QC on spatial datasets.
- Reproject and standardize spatial data according to organizational standards.
- Support map production, reporting, and internal communication.
What you'll need#
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in GIS, geodesy, geomatics, geography, environmental science, or a related field.
- Students in Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, Computer Science, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, or Data Science are also eligible.
- Proficiency with the ArcGIS Suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Field Maps.
- Understanding of spatial analysis concepts, coordinate systems, projections, geodesy, and GNSS fundamentals.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to operate an ATV or a willingness to learn (training provided).
- Comfort working outdoors and independently under various weather conditions.

- Compensation: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour.
