About the role#
As an intern in IBM Infrastructure and Technology, you will join the Design and UX team to focus on research, design, or content development. You will work on a specific product within your business area while receiving guidance from senior team members. This role involves learning IBM design practices and understanding how content affects the overall user experience. You will also participate in the design community by sharing knowledge and helping with daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to research, design, or content development for a product.
- Apply a user-centered perspective to your tasks.
- Advocate for the end user during interactions with colleagues and teammates.
- Engage directly with customers or product users during the development process.
- Support community activities and help maintain internal operations.
- Learn your craft while meeting individual and team objectives.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a college or university.
- Pursuit of a bachelor degree in fields such as Technical Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, or related design and technology programs.
- Creativity and the flexibility to adapt to new scenarios.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with enterprise technology personas and design thinking frameworks.
- Familiarity with the IBM Z product stack.
- For UX and Research roles: Demonstrated knowledge of UX design and the ability to perform research for software or web products.
- For Content Development roles: Experience producing technical documentation using XML, DITA, and GitHub, along with knowledge of native AI solutions for structured content.
- Technical skills in HTML, CSS, JSON, API usage, and front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Ability to build responsive, accessible interfaces and implement design systems.
