About the role#
This internship position offers an introduction to technology sales within IBM. You will work in a center-based environment that combines consultative selling with technical demonstrations and AI-driven tools. The role focuses on helping organizations evaluate and adopt technology solutions while building a foundation for a career in client leadership.
What you'll do#
- Identify new opportunities and create demand within assigned territories and product portfolios.
- Engage prospective customers through phone, email, social media, video outreach, and virtual events.
- Manage an active pipeline by moving opportunities through the sales cycle.
- Uncover expansion potential and support renewal, upgrade, and modernization projects.
- Lead customer discovery conversations to identify business objectives and technical requirements.
- Deliver virtual technical demonstrations and proof-of-value discussions.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Technical Specialists, Customer Success Managers, and Account Executives.
- Use digital and AI-enabled sales tools to improve engagement strategies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Pursuit of a degree in Business, Communications, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong interest in consultative sales and solving client business challenges.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to both business and technical audiences.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Curiosity, self-motivation, and an analytical mindset.
- Previous experience or coursework in professional selling, customer-facing roles, or technology projects.
- Exposure to areas such as AI, hybrid cloud, automation, data, cybersecurity, or enterprise software.
- Leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, or community involvement.
