About the role#
As a Hardware Test Engineer intern, you will work on the systems that drive computing. You will join the Z Engineering System Test team to test and support the hardware and firmware that make up IBM Z Systems. This role involves working with microprocessors and hardware components.
What you'll do#
- Test mainframe hardware components, such as processors, memory modules, and I/O systems.
- Work with firmware and systems engineering teams on hardware-software integration.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues through testing, debugging, and failure analysis.
- Support lab testing efforts, including hardware bring-up, functional verification, and environmental testing.
- Write technical documentation for test procedures and results.
What you'll need#
- Fundamental education in hardware, software, or testing.
- Proficiency in Python coding and scripting.
- Strong communication skills.
- A desire to pursue a career in engineering.
- Exposure to mechanical engineering principles and concepts.
- Basic understanding of firmware engineering concepts.
- Exposure to electrical engineering principles.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
