About the role#
As a Data Scientist Intern with the AI, Automation, and Data Platforms team, you will combine strategic thinking with technical skills in machine learning and data analytics. You will work on enterprise projects that improve decision-making and solve complex business problems. This role involves translating business requirements into technical strategies and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement machine learning solutions and statistical models, from initial problem formulation to deployment.
- Collect, clean, and preprocess both structured and unstructured datasets.
- Support the design and optimization of AI-driven strategies based on stakeholder requirements.
- Use cloud platforms to build scalable AI solutions while applying IBM standards for development.
- Manage project stages using agile strategies, monitoring timelines and resolving technical challenges.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to integrate AI solutions into existing systems.
- Apply principles of ML Ops and AI ethics throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, including common data science libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and scikit-learn.
- Experience with AI/ML technologies and statistical modeling through coursework, projects, or previous work.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms such as linear regression, decision trees, random forests, and neural networks.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Understanding of large language models (LLMs) and cloud-based platforms.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
