About the role#
This Electrical Engineering Intern position supports the advancement of electrical systems for KARNO generator technology within the R&D division. Based in the Cincinnati area, this role offers hands-on exposure to the design and development of electrical sub-systems and components. You will work alongside engineers on the build, integration, and testing of electrical systems, including wire harness design, control panel testing, and bench testing of printed circuit boards.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the detailed design of electrical system schematics, wiring harnesses, custom circuit hardware, and control modules.
- Support the production change management process by identifying and implementing engineering improvements.
- Work in the R&D lab and generator test site to provide hands-on support for system prototypes and production hardware.
- Design and build one-off electrical test boxes for integration efforts.
- Integrate next-gen engineering builds and manage the documentation package for installation and testing.
- Analyze, design, simulate, and test electronic circuits for next-generation electrical systems.
- Support mechanical packaging and system design to meet electrical and thermal requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering.
- Strong understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles and concepts.
- Coursework or project exposure to electrification systems, such as batteries, motors, inverters, PDUs, or embedded controllers.
- Familiarity with electrical system modeling and simulation tools, specifically MATLAB-Simulink, PSPICE, or LTSPICE.
- Experience with schematic or PCB design tools like AutoCAD or Altium Designer.
- Ability to follow safety procedures for testing and handling high-voltage electrical systems.
- Capability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
