About the role#
This Electrical Engineering Intern role supports the development of electrical systems for the KARNO generator technology. Based in the R&D division near Cincinnati, Ohio, this position offers hands-on experience in the design, integration, and testing of electrical sub-systems and components. You will work alongside engineers on-site to build practical experience with hardware, wire harnesses, control panels, and printed circuit boards.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the detailed design of electrical system schematics, wiring harnesses, custom circuit hardware, and control modules.
- Support the production change management process by identifying and implementing engineering improvements.
- Work in the R&D lab and generator test site to provide hands-on support for system prototypes and production hardware.
- Design and build one-off electrical test boxes for integration efforts.
- Integrate next-generation engineering builds and manage the documentation package for installation and testing.
- Analyze, design, simulate, and test electronic circuits for next-generation electrical systems.
- Support mechanical packaging and system design to meet electrical and thermal requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Strong understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles and relevant concepts demonstrated through school or personal projects.
- Coursework or project exposure to electrification systems, such as batteries, motors, inverters, PDUs, or embedded controllers.
- Familiarity with electrical system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB-Simulink, PSPICE, or LTSPICE.
- Experience or coursework in schematic and PCB design tools like AutoCAD or Altium Designer.
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds and follow safety procedures for high-voltage electrical systems.
