About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern at Hy-Vee, you gain hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting while working toward your pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to help deliver patient care and learn the daily operations of a retail pharmacy.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly service to customers.
- Fill and process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report medication errors to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and monthly counts.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures, including Quality Assurance Programs.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information and prescription pricing.
- Assist in training pharmacy employees and take on special projects as assigned.
- Work with your team to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and store policies.
- Assist in other areas of the store when needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Capability to handle confidential patient and financial information with discretion.
