About the role#
Houston Classical Charter School is hiring a Teacher Fellow for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a 10-month, full-time position reporting to the Principal. The role involves supporting lead teachers and contributing to the daily operations of the classroom to ensure scholars succeed academically.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with lead teachers to co-teach classrooms.
- Assist with classroom management to maintain a productive environment.
- Help develop and implement standards-aligned lessons and activities.
- Provide individualized tutoring support to help scholars reach their goals.
- Maintain communication with families regarding scholar progress.
- Record grades and attendance data.
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and preparing instructional materials.
- Supervise scholars during breakfast and lunch.
- Act as a substitute teacher when needed.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree or current pursuit of one with a clear graduation timeline.
- Majors in Psychology, Sociology, History, Communications, Human Resources, Political Science, Philosophy, or Public Health are relevant to this role.
- A strong commitment to the belief that all children can achieve their highest potential.
- The ability to take and implement feedback swiftly.
- Previous experience in educational or youth development settings is a plus.
- Experience working with scholars in testing grades is preferred.

- Compensation: $40,000 - $50,000 per year.
