About the role#
The Education and Youth Services (EYS) internship offers an opportunity to support refugee youth and their families as they navigate the school system and integrate into the community. Interns gain hands-on experience in program coordination, curriculum development, and direct client support while working within an international humanitarian organization.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate with EYS staff and clients to schedule School Orientations and arrange necessary interpretation services.
- Assist in the administration of school enrollment preparations.
- Support the development and revision of curriculum for School Orientations and after-school programming.
- Organize and facilitate after-school enrichment activities focused on academic growth, social development, and cultural integration.
- Provide tutoring, homework help, and academic coaching for refugee youth.
- Serve as a liaison between parents, students, teachers, and school administrators, including facilitating parent-teacher meetings.
- Support the planning and execution of educational field trips, volunteer events, and community outreach efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or an individual within 12 months of graduation.
- Strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive client information.
- Access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to adhering to all workplace and volunteer policies.
