About the role#
The Education and Youth Services (EYS) intern will support the delivery of academic and social integration services for refugee youth. This role involves coordinating school orientations, facilitating communication between families and school staff, and organizing enrichment activities. Interns will work closely with EYS staff to ensure clients receive consistent support as they navigate the local school system.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate with EYS staff and clients to schedule and prepare for school orientations.
- Assist in the administration of school enrollment preparations.
- Contribute to the development of revised curricula for school orientations and after-school programming.
- Organize and facilitate after-school enrichment activities focused on academic improvement, social development, and cultural integration.
- Serve as a liaison between parents, students, teachers, and school administrators to facilitate effective communication.
- Support the planning of educational field trips, volunteer events, and community outreach programs.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent graduate (within 12 months of graduation).
- Ability to handle sensitive client information with strict confidentiality.
- Strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
