About the role#

The Park Services Internship with Hillsborough County offers a hands-on learning experience for students interested in local government operations and community recreation. This full-time, paid position provides professional supervision and structured learning opportunities in both office and outdoor settings. Interns will gain practical insight into how a parks and recreation department manages facilities, coordinates with community partners, and maintains public spaces.

What you'll do#

• Dedicate 40 hours per week to work assignments, performance management, and professional development.
• Work under professional supervision to develop customer service skills and understand daily departmental operations.
• Collaborate with local sports organizations to share information with the public and assist in the administration of programs, park improvements, and projects.
• Participate in operational tasks such as evaluating park areas, processing facility usage requests, updating standard operating procedures, and assisting with budget analysis for park-related projects.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a master’s or bachelor’s degree program in Sports and Recreation Management, Parks and Recreation Management, Business Management, Public Administration, Civil Construction, Agronomy, Urban Forestry, Education, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience managing administrative projects or public government-related activities, or current enrollment in a relevant degree program.
• A valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Ability to perform medium work, including exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and the ability to work outdoors in various environmental conditions such as sun, pollen, dust, and grass.
