About the role#
The City of Fredericksburg is hiring an intern to support the Commissioner of the Revenue. This position provides hands-on experience in municipal tax and revenue operations. You will work within a team focused on public service and administrative accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Reconcile tax filings.
- Enter data into the system of record.
- Research and compile data to help solve problems.
- Organize and maintain public records.
- Answer basic questions from City staff and the public.
- Draft memos and correspondence.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or graduate program in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or marketing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to interact with the public and City staff in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Capability to learn and follow State and City tax codes.
- Commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and sound judgment.

- Compensation: $18 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time, rolling term.
