About the role#
The Construction Co-Op program introduces students to both office and field operations within the commercial construction industry. During this rotation, you will work under the guidance of corporate managers, project managers, and field superintendents. You will gain practical experience by observing how project concepts are transformed into construction reality through professional interactions with clients, consulting professionals, and various trades.
What you'll do#
- Learn and understand project design drawings and specifications.
- Capture and document project site photographs to track progress and existing conditions.
- Assist in maintaining Request for Information (RFI) logs.
- Prepare daily reports summarizing project activities.
- Attend safety meetings, walkthroughs, and weekly toolbox talks.
- Prepare and maintain submittal logs and assist with the submittal process.
- Collaborate on the preparation of meeting minutes for subcontractor and owner meetings.
- Participate in quality meetings and walkthroughs to ensure project standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for civil engineering, construction management, architecture, environmental, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
- A strong desire to pursue a career in construction management.
- Proficiency in construction software applications or a strong willingness to learn.
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong competency in business writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
