About the role#
The Construction Co-Op program introduces students to both office and field experiences in commercial construction. This rotation exposes participants to professional interactions among management, project managers, field workers, and clients. You will work under the direction of corporate managers, project managers, or field superintendents to gain practical knowledge of how a project moves from design to construction reality.
What you'll do#
- Learn and interpret project design drawings and specifications.
- Capture project site photographs to document progress and existing conditions.
- Assist in maintaining Request for Information (RFI) logs and submittal logs.
- Prepare daily reports summarizing project activities.
- Collaborate on meeting minutes for subcontractor and owner-architect-contractor meetings.
- Attend safety meetings, walkthroughs, and weekly toolbox talks.
- Review safety audits to ensure compliance.
- Utilize construction software such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Plangrid, and Oracle P6.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management.
- A strong desire to pursue a career in construction management.
- Proficiency in or a willingness to learn construction software applications.
- Strong competency in business writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

- Note: This role requires physical activities including driving to job sites, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds. Work may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including inclement weather and dusty or noisy environments.
