    About the role#

    As an intern in the Monitoring and Optimization group, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting engineers in refinery operations. You will work on real-time operational support, data analysis, and projects that improve the capabilities of the Monitoring and Optimization Center. This role involves collaborating across sites to solve technical problems using refinery operating data.

    What you'll do#

    • Support daily monitoring tasks including alert screening, KPI reviews, process trend analysis, and reporting.
    • Help identify abnormal operating conditions and potential equipment or process performance issues.
    • Use analytical software including Seeq, PI Vision, DataPARC, and Power BI.
    • Build or improve monitoring strategies, calculations, dashboards, and visualizations.
    • Review historical process upsets, equipment failures, and reliability events to find new monitoring opportunities.
    • Investigate the causes of process deviations, unit performance changes, or equipment concerns.
    • Work with refinery site teams to support data-driven troubleshooting.
    • Document monitoring logic, analysis methods, and project findings.
    • Complete an assigned intern project and present your results, insights, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
    • Completion of some engineering coursework, with preference given to students who have finished their Junior year.
    • Basic knowledge of engineering concepts and the ability to apply them analytically.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft products.
    • Ability to stay updated on new technology developments and processes.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Dallas, Texas.
    • This is a full-time, on-site internship.
    • The role is paid and follows a rolling term.
