About the role#
HF Sinclair is seeking an Engineering Intern for our Petrolia, Pennsylvania site. This role supports the Maintenance team by focusing on the performance and reliability of critical refinery assets. You will work on-site to assist with technical projects and help maintain equipment integrity.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve equipment performance.
- Assist with the coordination and execution of engineering and maintenance projects.
- Support asset integrity programs for critical systems and equipment.
- Participate in turnaround planning, including spare parts inspections and quality control.
- Analyze equipment data to identify ways to reduce downtime.
- Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and project records.
- Assist with projects focused on safety, reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with junior level courses preferred.
- Basic knowledge of common engineering terminology.
- Ability to apply engineering knowledge analytically.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with engineering software is preferred.
- Willingness to learn about new technology developments and processes.

- Physical Requirements: This role involves working in a refinery environment. You may be required to stand, walk, climb up to 200 feet, and lift up to 50 pounds. The position requires the use of personal protective equipment and occasionally a respirator. You must be able to work in confined spaces and be available for occasional long hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays for maintenance and emergency support.
