About the role#
As a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern, you will work with the Cybersecurity Infrastructure team to support the administration, monitoring, and improvement of enterprise security technologies. You will apply your technical skills to protect the enterprise while gaining practical experience in security operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist security engineers with the administration and support of cybersecurity infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot security platforms to maintain performance and availability.
- Support the testing, implementation, and documentation of security solutions and configuration changes.
- Analyze system logs, security alerts, and operational metrics to identify trends or issues.
- Contribute to automation initiatives to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
- Maintain standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, and technical documentation.
- Assist with platform health checks, policy updates, and user access reviews.
- Support security compliance activities and vulnerability remediation tracking.
- Collaborate with security and IT teams on various operational initiatives and projects.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to build your technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, information systems, or a related field.
- A basic understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, DNS, TCP/IP, and HTTP/HTTPS.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- An interest in security operations and cybersecurity technologies.
- The ability to work independently with guidance and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Experience with automation or scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash is preferred.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is preferred.
