About the role#
This paid, 10-week internship offers students the chance to work alongside management and actuarial staff at Health Care Service Corporation. You will support core departmental functions while gaining exposure to real business operations. The program includes a formal orientation, professional development workshops, networking sessions, and volunteer activities.
What you'll do#
- Model experience and gather data from various sources.
- Design and maintain databases.
- Produce reports for internal and external use.
- Own specific project components and deliverables with guidance from a manager and mentor.
- Conduct research and analyze information to develop recommendations for business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on initiatives that improve member and client experiences.
- Present your project results and recommendations to department leadership at the end of the program.
- Maintain business confidentiality and comply with all company compliance policies, including HIPAA.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program as a rising senior.
- Major in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, computer science, or economics.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Completion or planned completion of at least one ASA exam by graduation.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Technical skills in SQL and VBA.
- Ability to work the full 10-week program duration.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
