About the role#
This is a 10-week paid internship program. You will work within the underwriting department to learn core principles and procedures. The program includes a formal orientation, professional development workshops, networking opportunities, and volunteer activities. You will work on real-world projects and deliver a final presentation to department leadership at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate risk for new business and renewals.
- Assist with financial analysis for benefit designs and financial settlements.
- Collaborate with sales and account management teams on pricing negotiations.
- Analyze information and conduct research to develop business recommendations.
- Apply organizational processes and technologies to support project work.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and corporate policies.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Your expected graduation date is between December 2027 and June 2028.
- You hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- You have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available.
- You possess strong analytical skills and basic math competencies.
- You are proficient in Excel and Word.
- You have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage your time effectively.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You are available for the full 10-week duration of the program.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Chicago, Illinois or Richardson, Texas.
- The position is full-time and follows a hybrid work modality, requiring at least three days in the office per week.
- The base pay range is $19.13 to $34.17 per hour, depending on experience and location.
