About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the State and Local Tax (SALT) service line at HCVT. Interns work on diverse client engagements, focusing on tax preparation, research, and technical correspondence. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Prepare state and local income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts, including related work papers.
- Prepare indirect state tax returns for multiple entities.
- Prepare and respond to technical correspondence from taxing authorities.
- Identify accounting and income tax issues and propose strategies for resolution.
- Complete projects within established engagement timelines and budget guidelines.
- Perform tax technical research and self-reviews of work.
- Participate in firm training, activities, and professional development sessions with assigned mentors.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a master’s degree in accounting or taxation, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and July 2028.
- Minimum overall and accounting GPAs of 3.0.
- Active membership in Beta Alpha Psi or another campus accounting organization.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week from mid-June through mid-August 2027.
- Strong technical aptitude and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and take initiative.
- High attention to detail and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
