About the role#
Hawaiian Electric offers a project-based summer internship for students to gain professional experience. You will work with an individual mentor to research and complete a specific project. Interns participate in cross-functional activities to learn about the company, including site tours and professional development workshops. At the end of the program, you will present your findings and project results to the management team.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze telecommunications systems data to compare records against field data.
- Work with fiber, network routing, switching, radio backhaul, LTE coverage, and energy storage systems.
- Execute an objective-based project under the guidance of a mentor.
- Participate in company activities and events.
- Present your achievements and lessons learned to management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an active student at a college or community college.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Current academic standing in good standing.
- Enrollment in school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- A major in Engineering, Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- An expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- An official digital copy of your transcript.

- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
