About the role#
This is a project-based summer internship at Hawaiian Electric. You will work with a dedicated mentor to research and execute an objective-based project. Interns participate in cross-functional activities to learn about the company, including power plant tours, professional development workshops, and career panels. At the end of the summer, you will present your achievements and lessons learned to the management team.
What you'll do#
- Review rooftop solar interconnection applications.
- Withdraw expired applications.
- Assist with placing interconnection applications into records management.
- Participate in cross-functional activities and company events.
- Present project deliverables and findings to management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at a college or community college.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 and good academic standing.
- Major in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Must be attending school in Fall 2027.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Official digital copy of your transcript.

- Location: Honolulu, Hawaii.

- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
