About the role#
This summer internship focuses on the electrification of transportation within Hawaii. You will work on a project-based assignment alongside a dedicated mentor to research and analyze emerging technologies and regulatory frameworks. This role involves assessing how new charging solutions integrate into the local energy landscape and support grid resilience. You will synthesize your findings into recommendations and present your work to the management team at the end of the program.
What you'll do#
- Support strategic research on EV charging technologies, specifically Light pole Charging and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X).
- Evaluate technical feasibility, deployment models, and the impact of these technologies on Hawaii's energy system.
- Investigate regulatory developments and utility-led initiatives, including Managed Charging and advisory services.
- Analyze how utilities across the U.S. approach EV adoption to identify best practices.
- Create briefing materials, presentations, and strategic recommendations for internal stakeholders.
- Participate in policy tracking and identify opportunities for collaboration with community and industry partners.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an active student at a post-secondary institution.
- Good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Enrollment in school for the Fall 2027 semester.
- An expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- A degree path in Public Policy, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Transportation Studies, Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- An official digital copy of your academic transcript.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Honolulu, Hawaii.
- The term runs during Summer 2027.
- Work is performed on-site, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
