About the role#
Hawaiian Electric offers a project-based internship for students interested in System Operation Planning. You will work with a dedicated mentor to research and execute an objective-based project. This position provides exposure to transmission and distribution modeling software, generation scheduling, and the integration of renewable energy and battery storage. You will gain professional experience and present your final achievements to the management team at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Research and execute a project based on specific system objectives.
- Work closely with your assigned mentor on daily tasks and technical challenges.
- Participate in cross-functional activities to learn about utility operations.
- Support system investigations and potential emergency response team activities.
- Present project results and lessons learned to the management team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary school as an Electrical Engineering major.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Status as an active student who will be attending school in Fall 2027.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Ability to provide an official digital transcript.
Location & details#
- Location: Honolulu, Hawaii.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Compensation: Starting at $23.00 per hour.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
