About the role#
This internship provides students with hands-on experience working on professional projects at Hawaiian Electric. You will work with a dedicated mentor to research and execute an objective-based project. Throughout the summer, you will participate in cross-functional activities and present your final deliverables to the management team.
What you'll do#
- Support DUFLS projects, including Relay and SCADA upgrades.
- Perform site checks and assist with design and review tasks.
- Lead QA/QC meetings.
- Work on additional projects based on current priorities and budget.
- Participate in cross-functional activities and company events.
- Present your achievements and project outcomes at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at a post-secondary school.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- You must be attending school in Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Good academic standing.

- Location: Honolulu, Hawaii.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site position.
