About the role#
Hawaiian Electric offers a project-based summer internship for students to gain professional experience. You will work with an individual mentor to research and execute an objective-based project. You will also participate in cross-functional activities to learn about the company, including power plant tours and professional development workshops. At the end of the session, you will present your project deliverables to the management team.
What you'll do#
- Research and execute an objective-based project.
- Build out Energy Management System (EMS) visualizations.
- Create automation, screens, and dashboards to support grid operations.
- Participate in cross-functional activities.
- Present project deliverables at the end of the session.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a post-secondary school (college or community college).
- Good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Must be attending school in Fall 2027.
- Major in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Ability to provide an official digital copy of your transcript.
Location & details#
- Location: Honolulu, Hawaii.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
- Compensation: Starting at $23.00/hr.
- This is a full-time, on-site, paid position.
